Description

Customized Sand Cast Brake Cylinders – A105-85 Steel Hydraulic Braking Components for Heavy-Duty Drive and Chassis Systems

At Y&J Industries, we deliver precision-engineered components for construction, mining, and heavy equipment applications, built to withstand high hydraulic pressures, mechanical stress, and continuous operation in demanding environments. Within our customized Construction Machinery parts portfolio, the brake cylinder is a core safety component in the drive and chassis braking systems of heavy machinery. Every brake cylinder is fully customized – sand cast from A105-85 carbon steel, precision-machined on CNC centers, and finished exactly to your engineering drawings or physical samples. You define the hydraulic port geometry, piston bore, spline specifications, and mounting interfaces; we focus on precision manufacturing and can provide practical Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to ensure a reliable, leak-free, long-service-life product.

Sand Casting & CNC Machining in A105-85 Steel – Made Exclusively to Your Drawings or Samples

All brake cylinders we produce are manufactured through a combined process of sand casting followed by multi-axis CNC machining. Sand casting provides the near-net shape of the cylinder body, accommodating the complex internal passages, oil galleries, and structural bosses required for hydraulic actuation. The material is A105-85, a high-strength carbon steel commonly specified for pressure-containing components, offering good weldability, toughness, and resistance to deformation under internal pressure.

After casting and heat treatment as specified, the cylinder undergoes precision CNC machining: the piston bore is honed or bored to a precise diameter and surface finish for smooth annular piston movement; the hydraulic inlet ports, bleeder ports, and mounting faces are machined to tight tolerances; and the internal splines are broached or machined to exactly match the drive shaft profile defined in your design.

Y&J Industries is a Chinese manufacturer specializing in customized mechanical components through integrated casting, forging, and machining. For brake cylinders, sand casting and CNC machining is the primary production route. Simply provide your complete engineering definition: 2D drawings (PDF, DWG), 3D models (STEP, IGES), or a physical sample, along with your A105-85 material specification, any pressure testing requirements, and inspection criteria. We faithfully reproduce your cylinder with strict dimensional control and full material traceability.

We do not offer brake cylinder design services; however, upon request we can review your design from a DFM perspective, offering localized suggestions on casting draft, core placement for oil galleries, wall thickness transitions, or machining access for splines and ports – without altering your functional intent. Minimum order quantity is not fixed; it depends on the specific material, casting complexity, and cylinder dimensions. We adapt to your batch size, whether a single prototype or volume production.

A105-85 Steel – High-Strength Carbon Steel for Reliable Hydraulic Containment

A105-85 is a normalized carbon steel that provides an excellent balance of strength, ductility, and pressure integrity. When your design calls for this grade, we cast and machine it with full material traceability. Key properties delivered by the material and our process include:

Pressure-containing capacity: The material withstands high internal hydraulic pressures without bursting or permanent distortion, making it suitable for the demanding actuation cycles of braking systems.

Good machinability: The cylinder bores, seal grooves, and splines can be machined to precise tolerances, ensuring smooth piston travel and accurate spline engagement.

Weldability for auxiliary attachments: Where your design incorporates welded mounting lugs or brackets, A105-85 can be reliably welded following qualified procedures.

All material is sourced with mill test certificates, and additional testing such as hydrostatic pressure testing or dye penetrant inspection can be performed per your specification.

Core Safety Component – Hydraulic Actuation and Splined Power Transmission

The brake cylinder functions as both the hydraulic pressure vessel and the mechanical interface for braking force generation. Based on your design, the cylinder operates as follows:

Hydraulic Actuation: High-pressure hydraulic fluid enters the cylinder body through precisely machined inlet ports, acting on an annular piston. As pressure builds, the piston compresses a stack of friction discs and steel separator plates, generating the required braking torque.

Splined Connection: Internal splines machined into the cylinder bore or a separate splined hub engage directly with the drive shaft. This connection allows the cylinder to either transmit rotational power from the shaft or, during braking, lock the shaft relative to the housing, providing positive braking.

Robust Construction: The one-piece cast body absorbs the reaction forces from braking and maintains precise alignment of the piston, seals, and splines, preventing leaks and ensuring consistent brake engagement and release.

Because every brake cylinder is manufactured strictly to your drawing, the port locations, spline data, bolt patterns, and mounting feet match your equipment exactly, ensuring a direct, drop-in fit with your existing brake pack and axle assembly.
