The brake cylinder functions as both the hydraulic pressure vessel and the mechanical interface for braking force generation. Based on your design, the cylinder operates as follows:

Hydraulic Actuation: High-pressure hydraulic fluid enters the cylinder body through precisely machined inlet ports, acting on an annular piston. As pressure builds, the piston compresses a stack of friction discs and steel separator plates, generating the required braking torque.

Splined Connection: Internal splines machined into the cylinder bore or a separate splined hub engage directly with the drive shaft.
